Hello all, I am next year's editor-in-chief for The Grand Views. My staff and I are new to the editing scene and are bringing fresh ideas with us.

The news editor will be Devlin Hogans. Devlin is involved in athletics and leadership on campus so you can count on him to stay on top of what is going on. Keely Shannon will be stepping up as features editor. She has a lot of ideas and will bring many colorful stories to the pages of the paper next year. As our sports editor, Amanda Gabbert will work hard to give the readers a variety of coverage. The photo editor for next year is Courtney Townsend. With her creative eye, The Grand Views is sure to be full of interesting photos. Designing the paper next year will be Chad Kriz. He has plenty of experience as a graphic journalism major and will make some positive changes in design. The new web editor will be Kelsey Savolainen. She plans on doing a web content overhaul and boosting interactivity so check out the website next year. Nicole Barreca will be the stepping in as copy editor and Amanda Wilson will fill the business editor position.

We will be insisting on excellent writing quality from our staff writers and reporters. We want to try to have more relevant content and find topics that can relate back to Grand View or college students.

Derek and the rest of this year's staff set a high standard, but I have confidence that our upcoming group will be able to maintain, if not exceed, it. This year we won Best Student Newspaper of 2009 from the Iowa College Media Association, and we hope to bring that award home again for 2010.
