Grand View will begin online registration this spring changing the way students register for classes.
The new process will eliminate the need for students to bring a paper copy of their registration to the registrar's office. However, they will still need meet with their advisor prior to registering.
Online registration allows students to search for and select classes to add to their schedule. Students are able to search for classes by subject, class number, keyword, meeting time or instructor. After the desired classes are selected you check out, much like shopping online.
Students must notify their advisor after completing the online schedule so they can confirm it meets the requirements of the individual students plan of study. If an online schedule is not finalized by your advisor the status of the registration will be listed as pending.
"I'm very pleased with the new system at least five of my students have registered online," Diebert said.
Until the bugs get worked out it my take a little more time than the previous method Diebert said. This is due to the possibility of mix-ups and second meetings.
Anne O'Leary, nursing junior said she likes the new registration because you get instant feedback.
"It's nice to know right away if you don't get into the class you want," O'Leary said.
This enables students to work out their schedule to make sure it will work for them.
O'Leary said her favorite part on the new process is being able to do it on her own time.
" I like not having to go by my advisors time to sign up for classes. If they only have a couple hours available it's kind of a pain to find a time to meet with them," O'Leary said.
