After three conference games in the last two weeks, the men now lead the MCC by half of a game. On Oct. 10, the Vikings faced Clark College on senior day and came away with a win, 5-1. They lead 3-0 after the first half. Ryan Adamson, freshman midfielder, scored two of the Vikings goals.
It was a slow start when they faced Iowa Wesleyan on Oct. 7, but the Vikings again came away with a 5-1 victory. The Vikings scored four of their goals in the second half. Augustine Faiz, junior, scored to goals in the win. The Vikings outshot Iowa Wesleyan 15-9.
women's soccer
With a conference record of 3-1-1 and three games left, the women sit in third place, one and a half games back. On Oct. 10, they lost their first conference game against Clark College, 2-1. After Clark scored the game's first goal, seven minutes in, Taylor Handsaker, freshman defender, tied the game up before the half. With three minutes gone in the second half, Clark scored the final goal of the game.
Aleia Salazar, freshman forward, scored just 45 seconds in the game against Iowa Wesleyan on Oct. 7. The Vikings beat the Tigers, 3-0. All three of those goals came in the first half. McKenzie McAdaragh, senior defender and Deb Jenkins, freshman defender, also added a goal.
cross country
With the temperature at 31 degrees and snow on the ground, the cross country teams ran at the William Penn Invitational on Oct. 10. Obsie Birru, sophomore, once again lead the Vikings with a first place finish with a time of 16:23. Megan Winkelmann, senior, ran an 18:26 to finish in sixth place.
The Viking men had their best meet of the year at the William Penn Invitational. They finished third out of seven teams. Three Vikings placed in the top 20. Bichok Deng, senior finished in fifth place with a 27:20. Nick Newbury, junior, ran the course in 28:08 for 11 place.
