Women's Soccer
The women's soccer team faced Robert Morris College Sept. 12 but could not match up, losing 1-2. They then traveled to take on Saint Xavier University Sept. 13 and lost 1-2. Kelsey Brown, senior midfielder, scored the only goal.
The Vikings will face William Penn University Sept. 19.
GOLF
The Viking golf teams hosted the Grand View Viking Classic September 8th and 9th at Otter Creek Golf Club in Ankeny. The Vikings shot a school record 281 at the end of day one tied with St Ambrose. Grand View finished the second day winning with a total of 571. Josh Manske, sophomore, was the tournament's individual medalist driving 72, 65 for a five under par 137.
Aaron Ahrendsen, freshman, shot a second day 70 and Mark Kirschenman, sophomore, fired a second day 69.
The Viking women shot a school record 337 on day two, placing second behind DMACC. The women were paced by Molly Engleman, sophomore, who placed fourth overall with a total of 170.
The cross country teams traveled to Decorah for the Luther All-American Invitational hosted by Luther College.
The men had a rough weekend, placing last of eight schools, and averaged a time of just over 23 minutes. Bichok Deng, junior, was the big performer for the Vikings again this week. Deng placed 36th with a time of 22:04, which is a Grand View school record time in the four mile race.
Nick Newbury, junior, crossed the line with a time of 22:49 and placed 47th.
The women placed seventh out of eight schools at the Luther All-American Invitational. Obsie Birru, sophomore, placed third out of 146 runners in the invitational with a time of 19:04.
Finishing behind Birru was McKelle Lacher, sophomore, who finished in 44th place, running a time of 20:47 and Megan Winkelmann, senior, who finished in 57th place with a time of 21:03.
