Viking Council president Jeff Rost and vice president Natalie de Regnier are welcoming six appointed members to the 2009-2010 school year executive board.

"These students were recognized for their exceptional academic and extra-curricular performance," Rost said.

The six individuals are serving a different purpose around campus while looking ahead to the bigger picture.

Chelsea Francisco, accounting and business administration sophomore, has been elected as the chief financial officer.

"I will be responsible for all the financial documents, paying bills and sitting in on the Assessment and Program Evaluation Committee," Francisco said. "I felt like I had a unique perspective for Grand View because I transferred here from Iowa State this year. Therefore, I wanted to be able to represent the student body and have a part in making changes at Grand View."

Francisco is also currently involved in Phi Beta Lambda as well as managing the wrestling team.

Brendan Peterson, pre-secondary education junior, was chosen as the vice president of clubs and organizations.

"Grand View has provided me a wonderful experience as a student ever since I came here as a freshman, so I decided I wanted to give back to this campus," Peterson said. "My responsibilities as vice president of clubs and organizations is to give weekly reports on activities around the campus," Peterson said.

"I am the direct line of communication between Viking Council and all the clubs and organizations across campus. I meet with each clubs' and organizations' advisors and the director of student involvement at the beginning of the academic year," Peterson said.

Peterson is also involved with the Grand View choir and Alpha Psi Omega.

Ryan Phipps, biology freshman, was elected as the vice president of academic affairs.

"I look forward to the chance to bring about enough positive impact that I can say I'm leaving Grand View better than it was when I got here," Phipps said.
