Three Grand View athletes competed and one earned All-American, in the NAIA National Cross Country Championship, on Nov 22, in Kenosha, WI.
Obsie Birru, human services freshman, was given All-American honors with her 18th place finish in the women's 5K race. She had a time of 17:54. It was her personal best and she broke the existing Grand View record.
Brandon Bond, health promotion senior, and Jon Aldrich, secondary education senior, ran in the men's 8K. Bond finished 198th with a time of 26:58, and Aldrich finished 278th with a time of 28:15.
Jerry Monner, men's and women's cross country coach, said, "She is a freshman, so we're hoping to build that up even more in the next years."
For Bond and Aldrich, this race also marked the end of their career at Grand View.
"It was a great way to end their careers here at Grand View," Monner said.
Birru said, "It always helps to have such a positive teammates and coaches. Everyone's been great."
