Inclement weather has pushed back the construction deadline for the 28th Street and Carpenter Avenue project over a week but the project will still be completed in time for the Drake Relays, said Facilities Operations Manager Mark Chambers late last week.
The project was funded by the Department of Transportation, and, as a result, the construction guidelines stipulate that the company working on the project must be given up to two rain days each time it rains.

Lucas Beenken (B4), a current Drake student, was in shock when he heard he had won the election of Wright County supervisor by a mere 37 votes.
"There's 6,099 votes, and I won by 37. It was a squeaker," Beenken said. "It was exciting."
Beenken, who ran on the Democratic ticket, began his campaign while still serving with the National Guard in Iraq.
