Although I am lucky enough to have parents who are still together, many of my peers do not. The divorce rate has risen immensely in the past century, and sometimes I wonder why. When my grandparents were growing up, divorce was not considered. It was something that happened rarely, and when it did, it was the cause of much discussion.

Mr. Harrison made some mistaken claims in his letter to the editor on Monday. I'd like to clear up some of the bigger ones quickly.

• Redistribution of Wealth: Mr. Harrison seems to be confusing redistribution of wealth with allowing Americans only one level of income.
